Creative Process
Timna Woollard’s wallpapers begin life as hand-painted works of art created in her London studio with expressive brushwork and a strong connection to the natural world. Each piece is painted traditionally, using brushes and pigments to build up layers of texture, movement, and atmosphere. These original paintings are then scanned in super-high resolution, ensuring every detail and nuance is preserved as they move from canvas to print. The result is a collection of wallcoverings that bring the spirit of hand-painted walls into the home in a format that’s easy to install and enjoy.
The inspiration for the Trailing Hearts & Vines wallpaper collection came from a commissioned mural I did featured in House & Garden magazine. The botanical design of intertwined climbing vines incorporates my much loved Heart-leaf Philodendron and smaller climbing vines painted onto a soft colourwash background. I chose six colourways from an historic period palette for my wallpaper collection.
Inspiration for Les Fauves Wallpaper Collection came from the painting movement by the same name that used a bold directness, painterly brushwork, intense colour and a natural and unaffected innocence in their style.
Printed in England on high-quality, ready-trimmed wallpaper, Timna’s designs are available to order in a range of carefully developed colourways. They use the simple ‘paste the wall’ method, making them quick to hang and easy to remove. Her first wallpaper collections, Les Fauves and Trailing Hearts and Vines, introduced her distinctive style to a wider audience, combining painterly freedom with botanical elegance. These will soon be joined by exciting new collections that continue to explore Timna’s fascination with form, colour, and natural rhythm.
Having worked with some of the most exclusive interior designers internationally, Timna has long sought to make her work more accessible. Her wallpaper collections have been featured in The World of Interiors, House & Garden, and Homes & Gardens magazines, recognised for their bold originality and timeless appeal.
